Order & shipping

How fast is my order shipped?
In-stock items ship within 24 hours (Monday to Friday). Delivery then usually takes 1 to 3 business days. You receive an order confirmation by email.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs depend on the delivery country and weight: to EU countries (except Malta and Cyprus) graded by weight from 7.81 € and free from an order value of 300 €. Shipping to the USA costs 35 €, to Bosnia and Herzegovina 45 €, to all other countries 25 €. All prices are on the shipping & payment page.
Where do you ship to?
We ship worldwide, except to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Iran, North Korea, Syria and Cuba. Within the EU there are no customs surprises; for deliveries to non-EU countries (e.g. Switzerland) import duties may apply, which the recipient covers. Not sure whether we ship to your country? Drop us a line and we’ll find a solution.
Do I get tracking?
Yes. As soon as your parcel is on its way, we send you the tracking number and carrier by email so you can follow the delivery at any time.
Can I still change or cancel my order?
As long as your parcel hasn’t shipped yet, yes. Just message us via the contact form with your order number.
Do I need a customer account?
No. You order as a guest and only give the details we need for delivery and confirmation. No account, no password.

Payment

Which payment methods can I use?
Credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, via PayPal), PayPal, Bitcoin and Lightning via our own BTCPay server, stablecoins (USDC and USDT straight to our address), and bank transfer (prepayment). Card and PayPal carry a 3% fee from PayPal. After ordering you’re forwarded to the matching payment.
Do I get a discount when paying with Bitcoin?
Yes. If you pay with Bitcoin or Lightning you get 5% off the item value. The discount shows up directly in the cart and at checkout.
How does the Bitcoin payment work?
At checkout you choose “Bitcoin / Lightning” and are taken to our BTCPay server. There you scan the QR code with your wallet. Once the payment is confirmed, your order status updates automatically, with no third party in between.
How does bank transfer work?
You choose “Bank transfer” and receive our account details directly on the confirmation page and by email. Please use your order number as the payment reference. We ship as soon as the payment has arrived (prepayment).
Is card payment secure?
Yes. Card payments are handled by PayPal: you enter your card in PayPal’s secure card form, no PayPal account needed. We never see or store card details; entry is encrypted directly with PayPal.
Do I get an invoice?
Yes. You receive your order confirmation by email; on request we’ll send an invoice to the same address.

Products & mining

What is a Bitaxe or NerdQaxe?
They’re compact, open-source Bitcoin miners for the home. They use the same type of ASIC chip as large industrial miners but run open firmware: AxeOS on the Bitaxe, NerdOS on the NerdQaxe. A single-chip Bitaxe needs around 15 watts and sits fine on a desk; a four-chip NerdQaxe ++ needs around 80 watts and you can hear it.
Which miner is right for beginners?
For getting started we recommend the Bitaxe Gamma 601 or the Nerdaxe Gamma: a single BM1370 ASIC, around 1.3 TH/s, very economical and quiet. If you want more hashrate, go for the NerdQaxe ++ or the NerdOctaxe. Our miner comparison puts all devices side by side.
Is solo mining even worth it?
Not as a source of income. The chance of finding a block on your own is very small; if it happens, the whole reward goes to your address. Most people run solo miners as a hobby and because every device makes the network a little more decentralised. The mining calculator shows how small the chance is for your device.
What does “open source” mean for the miners?
The firmware is open: AxeOS on the Bitaxe, NerdOS on the Nerdaxe, NerdQaxe and NerdOctaxe. You can see and change every setting, install updates yourself and need no manufacturer account. For most devices the board files are public as well. The exception in our range is the Avalon Nano 3S, which runs Canaan’s closed firmware. What exactly is open on each device, with repository and licence, is listed on open-source Bitcoin miners.
What is AxeOS?
AxeOS is the open firmware of the Bitaxe. Through a web dashboard in your browser you set pool, frequency and voltage and watch hashrate and temperature live, with no app and no account. The Nerdaxe, NerdQaxe and NerdOctaxe run NerdOS, an open offshoot of AxeOS; the Avalon Nano 3S has Canaan firmware.
Are the miners loud?
That depends on the model. Small devices like the Bitaxe Gamma or Nerdaxe Gamma are very quiet at around 15 watts and living-room friendly. More powerful models like the NerdQaxe ++ or the NerdOctaxe are audible. The exact power draw is listed in each product’s specifications.
Can I also use the miner as a small heater?
Essentially yes: the power drawn turns almost entirely into heat. A single Bitaxe warms only slightly; several or larger devices give off noticeable heat. The NerdOctaxe Hydro releases around 220 watts into the room through its radiators, and our guide on heating with the Hydro shows what that does in winter.

Power costs & mining in practice

How much electricity does a miner use?
A Bitaxe Gamma draws 15 to 18 watts, which is 0.36 to 0.43 kWh a day. At 35 cents per kWh that comes to about €4 to €4.50 a month. The NerdQaxe ++ is around 80 watts, the NerdOctaxe around 200 watts. The exact consumption is in each product’s specifications, and the mining calculator works with your own electricity price.
Do I need my own Bitcoin wallet?
Yes. You need a Bitcoin address for the reward to go to, for example from a hardware or mobile wallet you control yourself. You enter this address in your miner’s firmware. Not your keys, not your coins.
Which mining pool is right for me?
For solo mining, the solo pool comparison sets several solo pools side by side, with stratum address, fee and its source, and our own measurements, in alphabetical order and without a recommendation. One of them is pool.opensourceminers.de, which we run ourselves (no fee for pure solo). CKPool is reached at stratum.ckpool.org (2% fee if a block is found); Public Pool charges no fee and also runs on your own node. If you prefer small, regular amounts, choose a pool that pays out by contribution. You enter pool address and user in the firmware and can change them at any time.
Do I need additional accessories?
The power supply and stand come with the miners, so you can start right away. If you want to overclock or lower temperatures further, add one of our coolers (e.g. AXP60 Copper Pro or ICE Tower). But it’s not required.
Can I run several miners at once?
Yes. Each miner runs independently over WiFi and has its own web dashboard. Just make sure you have enough free outlets and some space for ventilation.

Renting a miner (hashrate)

What is hashrate renting?
You rent Bitcoin computing power (SHA-256) for a fixed term, for example a “Virtual Bitaxe Gamma” with 1.3 TH/s or any amount you choose between 1.3 and 100 TH/s. The hashrate mines for your Bitcoin address on pool.opensourceminers.de. You need no hardware, no electricity and no setup.
How does renting work step by step?
On the “Rent a miner” page you choose a plan or your own hashrate and a term, enter your Bitcoin address and pay. As soon as the payment arrives, we switch the rental on automatically on pool.opensourceminers.de and you get an email. After that you can follow its live status in the dashboard of your order.
Do I get the whole reward if my rental finds a block?
Yes. If the hashrate of your rental finds a block, the coinbase transaction pays the reward straight to your Bitcoin address. pool.opensourceminers.de takes no fee for pure solo mining; we only charge the rent for the computing power. On pool.opensourceminers.de you can look up your address and see what was delivered.
What if my hashrate drops out or fluctuates?
We monitor delivery continuously. What we owe is your ordered hashrate as an average over the whole term; short fluctuations and maintenance windows are normal in mining and even out. If we deliver less on average, we extend your rental free of charge by the corresponding period or refund the undelivered share pro rata, at our choice. The computing power is guaranteed, a block is not.
What uptime and availability can I expect?
Your hashrate works around the clock. The momentary reading may fluctuate; what counts is the average over the term, and that is exactly what we monitor. You can see your live status (running, hashrate, best difficulty) at any time in the dashboard of your order and on pool.opensourceminers.de.
Can I change the pool or payout address?
The address yes, the pool no. You change your Bitcoin address yourself in the dashboard of your order while the rental is running. For new rentals the pool is always pool.opensourceminers.de.
