View products →The Bitaxe is an open design for a single-ASIC Bitcoin miner and, for many people, the way into home and solo mining. It is quiet, uses around 15 watts and runs the open AxeOS firmware, in which you set pool, frequency and voltage yourself. Anyone who wants to buy a Bitaxe gets an affordable, economical start in their own Bitcoin mining.
What is a Bitaxe?
A Bitaxe is a compact Bitcoin miner with a single mining ASIC, controlled by a small microcontroller with WiFi and a web dashboard. The current Gamma generation uses the BM1370 ASIC and reaches around 1.3 TH/s. Because the design is open, you can understand, adapt and repair the device, with no vendor lock-in and no cloud account. Which Bitaxe files are public, and under which licence, is set out on our page about open-source Bitcoin miners.
Why a Bitaxe?
- An affordable, economical start in Bitcoin mining at home (15 to 18 W).
- Open and repairable, with no vendor lock-in or cloud account.
- Built for solo mining: if the device finds a block, the whole reward goes to the Bitcoin address you entered.
- Quiet enough for the living room, even quieter and more stable with a cooling upgrade.
- An active open-source community that keeps developing AxeOS.
How solo mining works with such small devices is explained in our guide Lottery miner explained.
